The makers of Durex condoms, SSL International, have agreed terms to be sold to Reckitt Benckiser. The deal is understood to be to the value of £2.5 billion.
Reckitt Benckiser’s other brands include Nurofen and Gavison. The Aglo-Dutch group said the buyout would offer a change in its health division that would see a major boost in China.
The offer made by Reckitt Benckiser is a 32% premium on closing share prices of SSL International. The expected increase in sales of Reckitt’s health and personal care arm is around 35 per cent. This is estimated at £2.8 Billion.
Slough-based Reckitt employs almost 25,000 people globally. Its other well-known brands include Strepsils, Vanish and Dettol.
